While you can view our demisexual dating site on mobile just fine, we do understand the benefit of an actual demisexual dating app. Visitors have asked if there are dating apps for demisexuals. The answer is yes! But there are some downsides. Let us explain.
The downside of (popular) dating apps
There are quite a few dating apps out there for demisexuals to use. Unfortunately they all have their own downsides. Quite a few don’t understand why privacy might be a concern for some demisexuals. Not everyone wants the whole world to know they are demisexual. It will make a huge difference, if the more well known apps consider this and make it possible to hide your demisexual orientation. While still being able to look for similar orientations, without having to pay money. An app that does this well is Bumble.
Another issue is that within a lot of the apps you cannot specifically look for asexuals, demisexuals and graysexuals (unless you pay). From own experience, it seems that both Bumble and OKCupid do allow this option. However you will still see allosexual people in your regular matches. Keep these things in mind and take your time to figure apps out before you download them. Also focus on how safe you will feel on them, before filling in all your information.

ACEapp
This app is currently the only dating app for demisexuals, asexuals and graysexuals that was specifically made for this community. It was released in 2017 and has well over 10,000 downloads. With both positive and negative comments, it’s up to you if this app will work for you.
Important update: on March 8th (2020) a data leak was discovered where users risked a leak of their real name, username, picture, country, and location if they logged during that time. More information about this can be found here.
Update as of 25th of March 2020: “They did do a rollout March 9th, which was misleading to the users, since the issue was not fixed nor does it require a rollout to fix it. We just checked it Monday, May 25th Pacific Time and the issue has not been fixed at all”
– Ryan, PlanetZuda.

Update as of June 13th, 2020: “We want to inform you that all the data on ACEapp is completely safe and only authorized users can request and view the data. We recently launched our new update on 4th June in which we have used a new database and a secure environment.” – Rishav Saxena, ACEapp
Update as of May 10th, 2021: Since a few weeks the app is not available anymore. It is not clear if they will come back. We will update if this changes.

Bumble
Safety first
As far as feeling safe goes, Bumble is probably your best bet of all the regular big dating apps out there. They give you the option to hide your (demi)sexual orientation while still being able to search for other specific (demi)sexual orientations.
Downsides?
The downside? Only women can send the first message. And after a match is made, she only has 24h to send that first message. Another issue (but this goes for most dating apps) is that a lot of the features are behind a paywall.
Conclusion
It is still a well made app and has the option for asexuals, demisexuals and graysexuals to find each other in a safe way. Which is why it’s worthy of being in this list.

OKCupid
Potentially good
OKCupid has the potential to be a good dating app for demisexuals. While they’re definitely not perfect yet, they have been focusing more and more on all the different (a)sexual orientations and you are able to select that you’re demisexual as well as looking for other demisexuals. Just keep in mind that allosexuals will still show up in your regular search/match results. This has to do with your membership.
Membership options
If you pay for OKCupid Basic membership you get the option to make your (a)sexual orientation a ‘deal breaker’. Meaning, if the other person isn’t any of the orientations you have selected, they will be hidden from your results. However, Reddit users report that even while using this feature, allosexual people still show up in your regular matches and results. The best way to go about this is going to your ‘highest matches’ as most people who show up here, are indeed from the same (a)sexual orientation as you are looking for. (if this has changed by the time you are reading this, please let us know and we’ll adjust it accordingly.)
Pricing
If you want to see who likes you (before you like them), want to send a message before someone liked you back, or want to search in incognito mode, you’ll have to pay. Pricing for OKCupid basic starts at $19,99 and for OKCupid premium you pay $19,99 if you want to pay for one month only. If you sign up for multiple months the price per month goes down.
Demisexual dating on regular, and LGBTQIA+ apps
Regular dating apps
Another suggestion on the list of best dating apps for demisexuals, is for those who are not afraid to show themselves on dating apps as a demisexual. Use regular, well known dating apps.
The best option might just be to reach as many demisexual people as possible, by joining (multiple) well known dating apps and mention your asexuality in your profile text instead. Do keep in mind that most people on these apps are in fact allosexual and as people on Reddit have mentioned: the amount of matches, likes and messages might decline if you do put your demisexuality or asexuality in your profile. But you’ll get more accurate matches in return.
LGBTQIA+ dating apps
Another option is to browse the Play or App Store for dating apps for the entire LGBTQIA+ community. However, do be extra careful with these and be sure to read reviews both online (Reddit for example) and in the store itself.
Demisexual dating site asexuals.net
Users have asked if asexuals.net also has an app. The answer is no. However, as the community grows bigger, the option will be on the table later on. Until then, you can also use our demisexual dating site (also for asexuals and graysexuals), on your phone. Simply go to our demisexual dating site in your browser on your phone, or sign up right away, and start matching. You can also use our site for finding demisexual friends as it has an option to select what you are currently looking for.
No matter which app or site you end up using, we hope you find your match. Whether it’s an demisexual friendship, or more!
