Here you’ll find a useful list of days and weeks when we’re celebrating asexuality and raise awareness. We’re currently also looking for more national days. So if your country is celebrating asexuality on specific days, let us know and we’ll add them to our list.
The Importance of Awareness
Creating more awareness around asexuality is incredibly important. There are still a lot of misconceptions about asexuality, and we can do a lot to change this. If you want to know more about this, please read our blog ‘Asexual Awareness‘ and find out what you can do to help spread awareness.
Events like ‘International Asexuality Day’ and ‘Ace Week’ are incredibly helpful and much needed. They raise awareness and create a sense of belonging for those searching.

International Asexuality Day
International Asexuality Day (IAD) is a worldwide campaign promoting the ace umbrella. this includes asexuals, demisexual, grey-asexual and other ace identities. The first International Asexuality Day was celebrated on the 6th of April 2021, and involved asexuality organizations from over 26 countries. Activities included virtual meetups, advocacy programs both online and offline, and the sharing of stories in various art-forms.
Similar to ‘Ace Week’ the intention of International Asexuality Day is also to spread awareness, acceptance and appreciation. The official four themes of IAD are:
- Advocacy, Celebration, Education, and Solidarity
“These themes highlight the aims of recognizing and enabling the work that the international ace community and organizations do. Particularly in non-Western and/or non-English speaking countries.” For more information about IAD and events, visit the website: International Asexuality Day
This year (2022) we will be celebrating our second official International Asexuality Day. Join us on social media and celebrate with us and to stay updated with all events going on during this day!

Ace Week
Ace Week, formerly known as Asexual Awareness Week, was founded in 2010 by Sara Beth Brooks. The main goal was to to raise international awareness for asexuals. This year, Ace Week will be held from October 24 to 30. During this week the community celebrates and appreciates each other, and improves understanding and acceptance of the asexual-spectrum identities.
Their website offers extensive resources to raise awareness, such as printable materials, presentations, and an overview of communities around the world.
Every year there are also many events to join. If you’d like to see what will be happening this year, be sure to keep an eye out for updates on the Ace Week events page.

Ace Appreciation Day
The first Ace Appreciation Day was initiated on the 24th of August, 2021 by Asexuals.net on Twitter (yes, that’s us!). Ever since, we use every Monday as an opportunity to appreciate our beautiful community.
While it’s not an official day, the Ace Appreciation Day slowly grows on social media as the asexual community comes together to appreciate one another. Every Monday is an opportunity to join the #AceAppreciationDay hashtag and share your appreciation for your favorite asexual activist, writer, musician, actor, influencer, friend, partner, family member or yourself! Especially with many people still not having heard of asexuality, we want to use this as a way to improve awareness.
Join us for the next #AceAppreciationDay on our Twitter, Instagram or Facebook!
